Why do we cry when we are sad or happy?

IN each eye there is a tear gland present in the outer corner of our eyes.When we weep more fluid comes out through the opening in form of tears. When we laugh the muscles squeeze the tear glands due to which tears begins to flow. When irritatting volatile substance comes in contact with our eyes the tears wash away the irritating substance away.sad news also produces tears by reflex action ,this happens only when we do not have words to express our feelings.
